23rd Jeonju International Film Festival
What happens when elements of cinema become graphic material?
Context
The Jeonju International Film Festival is one of South Korea’s leading festivals for independent and experimental cinema, presenting films that explore new perspectives beyond mainstream production. Each edition develops its own visual identity while building on recurring elements that connect the festival’s history.
Approach
For the 23rd edition, the identity explores the relationship between cinema, projection and movement.
Building on the festival’s recurring use of the letter J, the design transforms the shape into a flexible graphic system inspired by the beam of a film projector. Light, geometry and motion become recurring principles across posters, digital applications and moving images.
Rather than functioning as a fixed symbol, the identity treats the festival mark as something dynamic: a structure that can continuously transform while maintaining a recognisable connection to Jeonju’s visual language.
